Two South Whittier School District students were recognized by the Boys and Girls Club of Whittier at their Youth of the Year event on Thursday, February 7, at the Ruth B. Shannon Center for the Performing Arts at Whittier College.
Jonathon Hernandez from Carmela Elementary and Julian Tabarez from Loma Vista Elementary were both recognized at the event and received the Outstanding Member Award. The Outstanding Member Award is given to students who show good character, citizenship and overall good behavior.
The winners are selected by the Boys and Girls Club site facilitator who considers students from all across the Whittier area. Both Jonathon and Julian attend the morning Boys and Girls coding/STEM classes.
