South Whittier School District will be implementing a Dual Language Immersion program in August of 2019.
A Dual Language Immersion program allows students to learn academic content while also learning to speak and write in another language. This can bring students great opportunities to learn other cultures, extend their reach, and also give them a competitive edge in academics and in the workforce.
Learning a second language has been proven to enhance student’s analytic and interpretive skills . Students who already speak a second language at home can also benefit from the program by expanding their knowledge of vocabulary, grammar, literature, and culture.
All South Whittier School District families should expect to receive an interest survey regarding the program later this week. Enrollment will begin soon, parents can visit Dual Language Immersion Program for additional information.
