Environmental Defenders Visit McKibben Elementary

McKibben Elementary got a visit from the Environmental Defenders on Tuesday, September 11, to educate students about protecting the environment.

The Environmental Defenders program is sponsored by the Los Angeles Department of Public Works that offers free school assemblies and resources to help teach students about important environmental lessons.

The assembly called, Rock the Planet, focuses on environmental problems and simple solutions that students can take to help reduce pollution. It also focuses on recycle, reduce, reuse, rethink, stormwater pollution prevention, household hazardous waste, and water conservation.

The assembly is music driven and includes a lot of audience participation from students. Some students were called up to the front of the assembly to help lead others in a dance to a song about recycling.

McKibben students were very responsive to the assembly. Many students volunteered for a dance off and to help lead others in the Environmental Defenders dance.
