CAASPP: PRACTICE! PRACTICE! PRACTICE!

With some South Whittier School District students in the middle of testing and others preparing to begin, homework and practice tests are great ways to reinforce skills.

The CAASPP test measures skills and content that students learn everyday in the classroom.  Homework is a tool that teachers use to reinforces these skills and measures student progression, so working with your student on their homework is a great way to learn what kind of content may be on their test.

The link provided below gives sample questions for students to know exactly what kind of questions will be on the CAASPP. The samples illustrate the rigor and complexity of questions on the test in English Language Arts and Math.

The site also gives an interactive guide, filters that allow the user to choose subjects and grade levels, additional details, and accessibility settings. Lastly, there are practice tests accessible that give students a simulated experience of the CAASPP.

Resources are also available in Spanish.

These tests are part of the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress System, or better known as CAASPP, and are one element of information that helps teachers, parents, and the student understand how well the student is meeting their grade level’s expectations.
