Education Foundation Hosts Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser

South Whittier’s Education Foundation hosted their annual Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser Saturday, February 24, at the district office to raise funds for the district’s schools.

The fundraiser was full of raffles, student performances, and of course, pancakes. The event was free to attend and breakfast was five dollars. The event took place from 8:00 am until noon and had a great turn out to support the foundation from many school board members, administrators, principals, teachers, and district families.

Aside from breakfast, there were many student performances. Graves Middle School’s band played songs, and their cheer and dance team performed. Los Altos Elementary brought students who are learning to play the guitar to play a few songs for fundraiser attendees, Lake Marie Elementary’s dance team performed, and there was a special performance from a folklorico group.

All proceeds from the pancake breakfast will go directly to enriching programs in South Whittier schools. The foundation focuses on supporting the arts, field trips, and after school programs.

The foundation announced at the fundraiser that their newest program they are implementing is a new after school dance program. Classes will be available at every school in the district and will offer folklorico and hip hop. The program will be funded by the foundation in partnership with the district.
