SWSD Hosts LCAP Input Meeting for Community Members

South Whittier School District held an LCAP Partners Input Meeting on Thursday, February 6, at the district office to engage with community stakeholders regarding input on the priorities of the LCAP.

The district invited families, staff, and community members to attend the partners meeting to provide input on the development of the Local Control Accountability Plan, or LCAP. The LCAP is a cycle that repeats every three years and provides direction on how funds are utilized to support student achievement. In this meeting, the district gave stakeholders the opportunity to provide input to determine what programs and items should be top priorities for the 2025-2026 school year.

The Associate Superintendent of Educational Services, Dr. Rebecca Rodriguez, and the Director, Assessment, Accountability & Parent Engagement, Dr. Reanna Mendoza, opened the meeting with a summary of LCAP goals, metrics and actions. LCAP goal topics include culture and climate, continuous improvement, educator leadership, family and community engagement, and multi-tiered system of support.

Presenters had posted posters on the walls categorized by each LCAP goal and the actions and services associated with that goal. Each attendee was given blue stickers and were asked to place those stickers under each action that was most important to them. Attendees were also given the opportunity to add actions that were not on the current list that they believed were a priority. Then attendees were given only five red stickers to stick under the goals that were their top priorities.

After all attendees had the opportunity to prioritize actions, presenters held an open discussion regarding which actions resonated with attendees the most, and which actions and services received the most votes.

The district will hold their next LCAP input meeting on March 6, 2025. The district is holding multiple meetings to give stakeholders the opportunity to provide input as they believe educator partner input is essential to the process.
