The California Highway Patrol visited South Whittier School District elementary schools during Red Ribbon Week to encourage students to “Say NO to Drugs” through a fun and engaging assembly.
The California Highway Patrol visited every school in the district to speak to students about the importance of saying no to drugs. They talked about the importance of staying motivated to achieve their education and career goals. They also shared the impact drugs can have on individuals and how using drugs can interfere and even keep them from achieving their goals and dreams.
One officer shared his own story about how he always dreamed of becoming a police officer. He shared how he kept that goal in mind and focused on doing well in school and not allowing negative influences from distracting him and keeping him from his dream.
After officers spoke with students they showed students their equipment and gave some demonstrations. Motorcycle officers rode their motorcycles in sync with each other and demonstrated a variety of drills.
After the assembly officers stayed to talk to students, take photos, and even signed some autographs.
