Los Altos Elementary Holds School Spelling Bee

Los Altos Elementary School held their school Spelling Bee on Friday, December 15th, to determine their school’s top four spellers.

Their Spelling Bee consisted of judges, an audience, and multiple rounds of rigorous words. Students in fourth through sixth grade participated in the event. Like other professional Spelling Bee contests, students were given their chance to spelling the word they were assigned with opportunities for the judges to repeat the word, ask for a definition, or use the word in a sentence. After multiple rounds, Los Altos determined their top four spellers.

As the top four spellers were awarded, Los Altos principal, Genevieve Silebi, shared with students how proud she was of them for their determination and hard work to learn and study their words and encouraged all students to continue reading and studying.

All elementary schools throughout the district will host their own Spelling Bee as well. The top four spellers from each elementary school will come together to compete in the District Spelling Bee that will take place on Thursday, January 25, at Loma Vista Elementary. This event will determine one final South Whittier School District winner.
