South Whittier School District held their monthly board meeting on Tuesday, December 12, at the district office and via Zoom.
This month board members and attendees were able to witness the organization of the board and hear one presentation regrading the first interim financial report.
Organization of the Board
In the beginning of the board meeting the board did an organization of the board. This is when they nominated and selected the board President, Vice President, and Clerk.
Board positions are as follows:
President - Sylvia Macias
Vice President - Jan Baird
Clerk - Francisco Santana
Member - Dr. Natalia Barajas
Member - Elias Alvarado
2023-2024 First Interim Financial Report
Aubrey Craig, Associate Superintendent of Business Services, presented the 2023-2024 First Interim Financial Report.
This report provides information regarding the district’s financial position as of October 31, 2023, as well as projected revenues and expenditures.
The presentation began by providing the revenue and expenditure assumptions then moved to the budget year financial status. This provided the breakdown and dollar amounts of the adopted versus the first interim restricted and unrestricted funds. Attendees then got to see the multi-year projection assumptions including both restricted and unrestricted funds. Lastly, the report showed the ending fund balance by category. The report then ended with Mr. Craig sharing next steps in the budget.
The district will hold their next board meeting on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, in the district board room and via Zoom.
