SWSD Families Receive Free Target Vouchers Through Operation School Bell

South Whittier School District families were able to receive free Target vouchers through Operation School Bell Thursday, October 20, at the Target in Santa Fe Springs to purchase new school clothes.

Operation School Bell is a philanthropic program through the nonprofit, the Assistance League of Whittier. This event was the first event the League has held since before the pandemic.

This event served 130 students from South Whittier School District as well as other students from surrounding districts. Families that are chosen to participate in this event are screened for eligibility through their school.

Eligible families are able to attend the event at the participating Target. The Assistance League provides a voucher for each student with a set amount of money. Elementary age students received a voucher for $90 and middle school students received a voucher for $110. The vouchers are good toward school clothes and under garments only, and only during this specified date and time. Families are able to shop with no tax added to their purchases.

The Assistance League of Whittier has held this event for SWSD families in the past and plans to continue these events in the future.
