Carmela Elementary held a Cyber Bullying education meeting on Thursday, September 22, at their school in an effort to open up conversation and education around cyber bullying.
This event was a 5th grade parent meeting lead by Carmela Principal, Karina Hartl, and Carmela’s Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). The meeting was well attended and discussed a variety of topics. These topics included social media and cell phone use, safety, bullying and healthy relationships.
During the meeting parents were encouraged to have open and ongoing conversations with their students regarding these issues. They also emphasized that parents and schools should partner together as a team to address these issues in order to support student safety as well as emotional well being.
