SWSD 6th Graders Visit GMS

South Whittier School District 6th graders visited Graves Middle School on Friday, May 20th, in preparation for entering middle school.

6th grade visitors were greeted at the GMS gate by staff and Graves Middle School’s ASB. They were able to have a campus tour, ask questions, get information about choosing their electives, hear from Graves’ principal, and participate in a fun assembly.

Graves’ ASB members gave students campus tours showing them classrooms, the library, band room, and lockers. After the campus tour they attended an assembly. Students were greeted by the GMS band as they entered the Field House. During the assembly students heard from GMS principal, Dr. De La Rosa. Dr. De La Rosa shared with students about the bell schedule, classes and electives, expectations, and extra curricular activities they can be involved in.

After they heard from the GMS principal, GMS ASB lead students in fun games. They participated in a cup stacking game, hula hoop contest, and a basketball shooting contest. 6th grader visitors also received GMS t-shirts in preparation for becoming Panthers!
