SWSD Hosts Public Viewing for New Recommended Science Curriculum

South Whittier School District held a community input and public viewing of the new recommended science curriculum on Tuesday, April 26, in the district board room.

The Science Curriculum Committee had reached a decision on what they would like to recommend to the board of trustees for approval after piloting 2 curriculums at the middle school and elementary schools. The committee recommended Discovery Science for the middle school level and TWIG Science for the elementary level.

During the event attendees were able to view the curriculum for each grade level. They were able to look through the text books and view project kits each classroom would receive. The district’s Director of Assessments, Accountability & Parent Engagement, Dr. Reanna Mendoza, was at the event to answer attendee questions.

After the event the community was asked to provide their input regarding the curriculum.

The curriculum will be implemented in South Whittier schools next year.
