South Whittier School District held their first KinderFest event on Saturday, March 12, at Carmela Elementary School.
The event was a fun outdoor event that showcased all the programs South Whittier offers. There were booths about the District’s nutrition program, technology, AVID, Family Resource Center, Dual Immersion Program, STEM program, college and career readiness program, wellness services program, and more.
The event offered many giveaways at each booth. Some of the giveaways included a backpack full of books, stress balls, and healthy eating plates just to name a few. There were also interactive games that students were able to engage in. The STEM booth allowed students to engage in experiments and practice the engineering design process which is, ask, explore, model, evaluate, and explain.
The event also included some special guests, Whittier’s Sheriff Department. Two Sheriffs attended the event and allowed students to explore their patrol car, talk over the intercom speaker, try on their gear, and get sticker badges. Participants had a blast and got plenty of fun photo opts!
Staff members were also at the event to assist attendees with student registration for the 2022-2023 school year.
