2021-2022 Classified Employee of the Year Awarded to Elizabeth Morris

South Whittier School District’s Classified Employee of the Year for 2021 to 2022 has been awarded to Carmela Elementary’s Instructional Aide, Elizabeth Morris.

“No matter what I will always do my job the very best I can and give it all I got and more,” Ms. Morris shared. “But being recognized for what you do means a lot!”

Ms. Morris has been in her position at South Whittier for 14 years. Ms. Morris, also known as Miss Liz to her students, became an Instructional Aide after being a room mom for her child’s classroom. She wanted to be more involved and the school was in need of aides. After applying, and being in the position for one week, she said she loved it and knew this is what she wanted to do without a doubt.

Ms. Morris’ mother, who was also an Instructional Aide, has been a big inspiration to the work she does. She shared how she watched her mom go above and beyond for her students and how she loved what she did.

Her other inspiration, her students.

“Students inspire me to be the best I can be. Our students have goals to meet, so I set myself a goal every year, to meet and exceed their goals.”

What inspires Morris to do her job, is also what she loves most about her job. She shared that seeing her student’s growth throughout the year and being able to make a difference in their learning any way she can is her favorite part about what she does.

Congratulations, Ms. Morris!
