Giving Children Hope Donates Food to SWSD Families

Giving Children Hope donated food to South Whittier School District families on Monday, May 4, at two of South Whittier’s meal pick-up locations in efforts to support families during these difficult times.

Giving Children Hope donated two pallets full of pantry foods at both Loma Vista Elementary and Graves Middle School. This food was given to families on top of the pick-up meals that South Whittier School District has been providing for children 4 years old to 18 years of age. The food donated was intended to feed the entire family, not just children.

The organization donated enough food to feed 100 families at each site. Every family that drove through to receive pick-up meals were able to also receive groceries.

Giving Children Hope is a non-profit organization that works with partners to serve vulnerable children and their families. The organization provides wellness programs and disaster response through medical resources, nutritional foods, and basic needs. The organization has partnered with South Whittier School District for some time by giving to families who are most in need, such as experiencing homelessness. This contribution was an extension of that partnership in this unprecedented time.

"We appreciate that Giving Children Hope continues to partner with us to offer food to our families during this difficult time,” Dr. Stacy Ayers, Director of Assessment, Accountability, and Parent Engagement, stated.

“By providing food to our families, this is one way that we can provide our parents with the necessary resources to support learning at home."
