South Whittier School District made donations to PIH Health to assist with their current shortage of supplies.
PIH Health reached out to organizations asking them to help replenish depleted supplies that are necessary to their efforts to support our community in this unprecedented time. After reviewing the list of items needed, the district donated cases of toilet paper, paper towels, and bleach.
“PIH and SWSD serve the same community, but in different capacities and during these challenging times PIH needed some supplies to meet the needs of the community and we were happy to donate so they could continue to do the essential work that they do,” South Whittier Superintendent, Dr. Gary Gonzales, shared. “It was the right thing to do.”
PIH Health is a not-for-profit healthcare organization and due to the current pandemic the organization is short on many supplies. Paper towels, toilet paper, isolation gowns, surgical gowns, Clorox cleaning wipes, bleach, sterile gloves, and face shields are just a few items they need.
In a letter given to organizations who made donations they stated, “PIH Health is committed to working each day to keep our communities healthy and we appreciate the compassion and generosity of those who support our efforts. This is especially true now, as our nation is impacted by COVID-19. We are grateful for your donation which helps ensure that we have sufficient supplies as we anticipate the road ahead.”
“SWSD is proud that we can continue to serve our community during these challenging times,” Dr. Gonzales stated. “Like PIH, SWSD continues to serve the community throughout this pandemic. Our Nutrition Services team is feeding hundreds of children daily, our Student Services team is providing much needed social/emotional support to families and our teachers are delivering educational services to our students daily. We are proud to do our part.”
In response to South Whittier School District’s donation the Director of Community Benefit with PIH Health shared in an email, "I saw donations came in from SWSD. Thank you sincerely – it is really humbling to see the support we’ve received.”
