Every student at Graves Middle School received a valentine card on Valentine’s Day thanks to the GMS PBIS team.
The Graves Middle School PBIS team created 620 valentine cards so that every student at Graves would receive a Valentine and know they are noticed, cared for, and loved at GMS. The cards were distributed on Valentine’s Day during the school’s sixth period.
PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support. It is an evidence-based practice of social, emotional, and behavior support. PBIS’ goal is too, “improve social, emotional and academic outcomes for all students, including students with disabilities and students from underrepresented groups. PBIS creates schools where all students succeed.”
One of the goals of PBIS is to "enhance school climate and school safety, and improve conditions for learning to promote the well-being of all students.” The valentine cards are in support with this PBIS standard in an effort to make sure that Graves Middle School has a climate where students know they are noticed and loved.
