Loma Vista Elementary hosted a family site word night on Wednesday, May 22, to show students and families fun ways to learn site words.
This event included a variety of different stations with each station being a game that promoted learning and testing student site word knowledge. There was a teacher at each station that would explain the game to students and parents. They would then all play the game together.
Stations included a variety of board games, Tic Tac Toe, a fly swatting game, and much more. There was also a station that showed parents and students different games and resources they could utilize on the computer that would help promote learning site words.
After each student visited a station they received a packet with that particular game inside so they can continue to play and practice at home.
Loma Vista principal, Kristine Carreon, said this event’s purpose was to give students and families fun options to motivate and encourage students to learn 1,000 site words by the time they begin 3rd grade.
