Los Altos Elementary kindergarten students received free dental screenings on Tuesday, February 26, at their school by Children’s Happy Teeth Pediatric Dentistry.
Children’s Happy Teeth is located in La Mirada and they specialize in pediatric dentistry and orthodontics. Their facility had one of their dentists and an assistant come to Los Altos to speak with kindergartners about the importance of getting their teeth checked by a dentist and how to brush their teeth properly.
The assistant, or “tooth fairy”, shared with students that there is no reason to be afraid of dentists, they are their to help keep them healthy and strong. The “tooth fairy” also gave students the opportunity to ask questions about the dentist and about caring for their teeth.
She then showed the kindergarten class an example of what proper dental hygiene looked like and a special way to remember the proper motion while brushing. She explained that they can sing the song “The Wheels On the Bus” while they brush to always remember to brush in circular motions.
After students learned about dental care, each child was examined by the dentist one at a time. While students waited their turn they were read books that were all about teeth. When their exams were finished students received free tooth brushes and information about their facility.
Children’s Happy Teeth dentists have specialized training that goes beyond general dentistry to best serve children and their needs.
