Superintendent's Message

Dear SWSD Parents & Guardians,

I am excited to welcome you back to the 2023-2024 school year. I hope that during the Summer, you and your loved ones were able to laugh and make memories. As the District prepares for students to return to school, we are feeling rejuvenated and ready to welcome them back. As I begin my 7th year as Superintendent, I continue to be committed to staying the course we have set for ourselves and continuing to provide stability as the District grows and improves the instructional program. Our overarching focus is to ensure that all students have access to a rigorous and appropriate curriculum and that learning takes place every day in every classroom.

For the upcoming school year, parents will notice that we have added additional instructional time to each day to enhance the learning environment of our students. The additional time will allow our students to discover, play, learn and research for longer sustained periods of time over the course of the year. Parents will also notice that on Sept. 16, the District will host the 2nd Annual Title l Parent Conference. Please plan on attending.

As we have done in the past and will continue, we will provide a safe environment to work and learn in. The District will continue to work with local, County, and State agencies to ensure that we have the most up to date information, that the needs of our families are met and that our protocols are appropriate and updated.

Lastly, I am excited to welcome back all of our SWSD students and parents/guardians on August 16, our first day of school. As you prepare to return, know that we are here to support and help you with issues that come up. Please do not hesitate to contact your site principal as needed. I’ll see you on August 16!

Let’s have a great year!

Sincerely,
Dr. Gary Gonzales
Superintendent
