Dear Parents, Guardians, and Friends of SWSD,
November 1, 2017 marked the completion of the first 60 days of instruction in the South Whittier School District (SWSD). In those 60 days, I have met and listened to hundreds of excited and happy students, involved parents, committed teachers, devoted staff members and a faithful administrative team. Each of these groups strive to give their all to ensure that SWSD can be the best it can be.
Over the course of the 60 days, I have visited every school site in the district multiple times, and after each visit, I come away with a positive outlook on how SWSD is serving students. Although there is much to be proud of in SWSD, there is still much work to be done; namely, ensuring that every student is provided with the best learning environment possible to achieve academic success. SWSD is committed to that ideal and as Superintendent; I am committed to working with all employees so that your children receive our best.
In a short time span, we have made positive changes to the instructional program, district practice, day-to-day operations, and improvements and upkeep to our school facilities ensuring that SWSD students receive a quality education. We will continue to collaborate with all stakeholders to identify and meet the needs of our students and families.
SWSD is a special place and it is a privilege to serve as Superintendent. Student learning is our highest priority and with most of the school year ahead of us, I will continue to work with all stakeholders to ensure that every student has access to a rigorous and appropriate education.

Estimados Padres, Tutores y Amigos del Distrito Escolar de South Whittier,
Noviembre 1, 2017 marco el final de los primeros 60 días de instrucción en el distrito escolar de South Whittier (SWSD). En esos 60 días, he conocido y escuchado cientos de estudiantes felices y emocionados, padres involucrados, maestros comprometidos, personal dedicado y un liderazgo administrativo leal. Cada uno de estos grupos se esfuerza para darlo todo para asegurarse que SWSD sea lo mejor que pueda ser.
A lo largo de los 60 días, he visitado cada sitio escolar del distrito escolar varias veces y después de cada visita, me quedo con una perspectiva positiva sobre como SWSD está sirviendo a los estudiantes. Aunque hay mucho de que estar orgulloso en SWSD, todavía hay mucho trabajo por hacer; es decir, debemos asegurarnos que cada estudiante reciba el mejor ambiente de aprendizaje posible para alcanzar el éxito académico. SWSD se compromete a ese ideal y como Superintendente, estoy comprometido a trabajar con todo empleado para que sus hijos reciban lo mejor de nosotros.
En un corto tiempo, hemos hecho cambios positivos al programa educacional, a las practicas del distrito, operaciones diarias, mejoras y mantenimiento a nuestras instalaciones escolares, asegurando que los estudiantes de SWSD reciban una educación de calidad. Seguiremos colaborando con todos para identificar las necesidades de nuestros estudiantes y sus familias.
SWSD es un lugar especial y es un privilegio servirles como Superintendente. El aprendizaje estudiantil es nuestra mayor prioridad, y con la mayoría del año por delante, seguiré trabajando con todos para asegurar que cada estudiante tenga acceso a una educación rigurosa y apropiada.
