South Whittier School District Hosts Annual Volunteer Appreciation Event

The South Whittier School District hosted its annual Volunteer Appreciation event on Tuesday, May 20, at Graves Middle School.

This special event is held each year to express gratitude to the many school volunteers who generously give their time and resources to support school events and activities. The celebration began with a breakfast, followed by a warm welcome from South Whittier School District Superintendent Dr. Gonzales, who expressed his heartfelt appreciation and emphasized the importance of collaboration between families and the district.

“I can’t thank you enough. Together with the district and our families our kids are getting quality education. Continue to get involved, continue to participate because this is essential. Together we are making a huge difference in our kids lives.”

Following Dr. Gonzales, South Whittier’s Community School Director, Karina Hartl, also shared her appreciation:

“You commitment to being connected and engaged has been truly inspiring. Across the district we’ve seen families step up in many ways. We want to say thank you. On behalf of our district, staff, and most importantly our students, thank you. Together we are creating something truly special and we are just getting started.”

Each volunteer was then recognized individually. School principals and community liaisons called up their school’s volunteers to present them with certificates of appreciation and a gift.

The event concluded with a fun raffle, featuring exciting prizes such as $200 grocery gift cards, movie tickets, LA Galaxy tickets, and a grand prize—a flat-screen TV.
