August 2024

Dear South Whittier School District Parents & Guardians,

I am excited to welcome you back to the 2024-2025 school year. As South Whittier School District (SWSD) prepares for students to return to school, we are feeling rejuvenated and excited to welcome them back. SWSD continues to be committed to ensuring that all students have access to a rigorous and appropriate curriculum and that learning takes place every day in caring and safe classrooms.

For the upcoming school year, parents will notice that we have had some administrative changes. We welcome new principals at Carmela, McKibben, Lake Marie and Graves. Parents will also notice that on September 14, the District will host the 3rd Annual Title l Parent Conference. The Parent Conference willprovide opportunities for parents and guardians to learn new strategies and information that will empower them to become more active in the education of their children. I hope to see you there.

As SWSD has done in the past and will continue, we will provide a safe environment to work and learn in. The District will continue to work with local, county, and State agencies to ensure that we have the most up to date and appropriate protocols in place to ensure that the needs of our students and families are met.

Lastly, I am excited to welcome back all of our SWSD students and parents/guardians on August 19, our first day of school. As you prepare to return, know that we are here to support and help you with issues that come up. Please do not hesitate to contact your site principal or the District office. I look forward to seeing you on August 19, when all students return.

Let’s have a great year!

Sincerely,
Dr. Gary Gonzales
Superintendent
