Communication Process In the Event of Positive Cases

SWSD is committed to keeping our school community informed. The District and our schools will continue to track and communicate confirmed COVID-19 cases and close contact exposures as defined by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). In the event there is a confirmed case on our campuses, affected individuals will be contacted directly by their school principal or by school staff. They will receive a letter that will include directions and information based on guidance from the CDPH and the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. Families of students who are not affected will not receive an exposure notification and no action will be required. However, principals will provide notifications to their school communities. As stated above, the District will only communicate and provide data for confirmed COVID-19 cases.

SWSD COVID-19 Reporting Instructions for Families

If your student(s) is suspected or confirmed to have COVID-19, it must be reported to your school. SWSD schools and staff will maintain confidentiality and protect student privacy, following all FERPA protocols.

What Families Can Do to Limit the Spread

It is going to take a concerted effort to help keep our students, staff and families safe and healthy. In addition to mitigation strategies on our campuses, we encourage families to be proactive and to reinforce the importance of hand-washing and face coverings to limit the spread of the coronavirus. Keep students home when they are sick. If your child has any symptoms associated with the coronavirus, make sure they stay home and get tested if necessary.
