South Whittier School District Celebrates Annual Thanksgiving Events

South Whittier School District kicks off Thanksgiving festivities by hosting annual Harvest Fest and Turkey Trot at Mckibben Elementary.

Mckibben Elementary PTA hosted their Harvest Fest on Wednesday, November 15, for students to enjoy. They created snacks of pretzels and cereal in the shape of turkeys, they had art stations, and concluded the event with pumpkin pie for all the students.

They continued the festivities on Thursday, November 16, with their first annual Turkey Trot that was created to promote healthy exercising habits. This event brought a large crowd of supporters to cheer on the students in their Thanksgiving themed jog-a-thon. Some students got spirited and dressed up as turkeys for the event and one class dressed up as pumpkin pie slices. Parents came out to support with personalized signs and a snack station.

The events were both a great success and were fun opportunities for the students to celebrate Thanksgiving with their school community and families. A special thank you to the Howard J. Mckibben PTA who sponsored and organized the Harvest Fest event.
