South Whittier School District Celebrated Halloween with Family Fun Events

South Whittier School District celebrated Halloween with lots of family fun this year. Carmela Elementary held a Family Pumpkin Carving night and Howard J. McKibben held a Trunk-or-Treat event for students.

Carmela Elementary’s Family Pumpkin Carving night was a school effort with food and prizes that were donated by the Carmela staff. The event also included face painting, a raffle, pumpkin patch, and a costume contest.

The event was organized by Mr. Hamilton and Ms. Sinde , the 6th grade teachers, and all proceeds from the event are going toward the 6th grade science camp.

McKibben’s Trunk-orTreat event was put on by school staff and families. They all participated in decorating their trunks and passed out candy to students. Everyone dressed up and many "trunks" had themes including The Wizard of Oz, D. Suess, and superheroes.
